Yes I still exist. It's good to know that the Hillside clinic is still going strong. I'd love to come down and help out again soon. Perhaps within the next year or so - Jason
This is Chelsea I am a Physician assistant practicing in Savannah GA. I am currently practicing in internal medicine and gastroenterology. I miss Belize and I want to come and volunteer for a few months in the near future. I miss learning about the culture. I had one of the best times of my life at Hillside. Please tell everyone I say hello. Miss all of you.
I just want to say again what a great experience I had at Hillside. It was all that I expected and more. I am currently working at my first job since graduating. Just started 2 weeks ago. I am working for Advanced Pain Management here in Milwaukee, WI. Good luck and keep up the great work at Hillside -Josh
I just wanted to update Hillside on my whereabouts and wanted to let you know that I would love to stay in contact because since I thoroughly enjoyed my time there I am hoping once I get established a little working I would love to take some time off to come and volunteer again especially if there is a need. -Michelle
Since graduating from medical school, I started my residency in General Surgery at MCW. My wife and I are still very excited about volunteering on a longer term basis once I complete my residency. We are looking all over for organizations that will fit our needs. My wife, Dana, and I are planning on volunteering for about a year after I graduate and then regularly thereafter, we are looking into places that will be able to support a general surgeon, and they are not easy to find...Please keep me posted with anything you need. -Nino
While I would absolutely love to come down to be the long term volunteer in March I have to pass it up until I finish residency. But when the time comes (summer 2010) keep me in mind. I'll certainly pass the word onto colleagues who are soon finishing. Thanks again! The clinic is always in my thought and prayers.-Be well, Adam
Spending a month at Hillside during my training had such a huge impact on me and I would love the opportunity to work with Hillside again in the future. Please keep me updated and let me know if there is anything in particular that Hillside may need. I would love to help in any way I can. Thanks, Marissa

Thanks for your email, it's always good to hear from Hillside. I have such fond memories of my time there and it is such a worthwhile organization. I just finished my chief residency year in internal medicine at Christiana Hospital in Newark DE. At the very end of my chief year I had twin sons, Bryce and Tyler, and am currently spending the summer with them before starting my hospitalist job in Lancaster PA in a few short weeks. I would love to come back to Belize in the next few years and given my schedule of 1 week on 1 week off, with two 3 week breaks a year, this is certainly very possible. Please keep me on your email/mailing list and keep me in mind to come attend clinic in a year or two! - Thanks, Michelle
I was at Hillside during my 3rd year of Pediatric Residency (September 2005). After residency I continued international medicine interests by becoming a Pediatric AIDS Corps (PAC) physician - an organization through Baylor College of Medicine. The PAC is essentially designed to send general pediatricians to HIV/AIDS impacted countries in Africa. We provide HIV care, as well as general pediatric care, to HIV positive children (inpatient and outpatient settings). In addition, a primary goal of the PAC is to provide education to local general doctors in improving pediatric HIV care - for long term upscale and improvement. http://www.bayloraids.org -- the website for BIPAI, the umbrella organization that houses PAC. My first year as a PAC doctor has been spent in Botswana, and is coming to a close. For my 2nd year, I am transferring to Lesotho....same PAC, same job, just different country. How are things at Hillside? I had such an enjoyable and educational experience while I was there.-All the best, Tamara
I was at Hillside Belize in October of 2005. I had a wonderful experience and would someday love to return. Sadly, it was during this time that my Hillside roommate Abby drowned. I had returned to the States a day or two before her diving trip and was saddened by the news. There were only 5 of us there that month, and naturally, you become close. Currently, I am a practicing physician assistant at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Residency Program/Family Medicine Clinic. I am also faculty at Southern Illinois University Physician Assistant Program. I was their first PA student to do an international rotation. One of my goals as faculty is to set up a rotation for those interested and of course Hillside is at the top of my list. Best regards, Brooke
My name is Tom. I and my wife Jan with Anne and Jerry came to Hillside for 3 weeks in Nov 2004 and 2 weeks in Nov 2006. I am a Family Practice physician, Jan did clerical work, Anne is an RN, and Jerry is a carpenter/handyman. We all live in Kewaunee, WI, about 2 hours north of Milwaukee. We were certainly watching hurricane Dean closely today. The times we were at Hillside touched us deeply. Discussions of Belize happen regularly and we love to hear any news from there. We have already talked about going back a third time. Tom
I came to Belize in March and assisted in the pharmacy with Kimberly. I am a clinical pharmacist in Jackson, MS. I very much enjoyed my short stay in Belize and am currently working on coming back for a longer visit. I've been communicating with Kimberly and Joyce about volunteering for a month in the near future. As I get things situated with my job back home to go back to Belize, I will keep y'all posted. Thanks for the email!
I’m so glad to get an email from your organization...Im currently working on a med-surg floor as a travel nurse in Los Angeles, CA. i would love to somehow get involved again in Hillside and possibly spend some time down in Belize. If you have any opportunities, please let me know! Being in Belize for those two weeks was a great experience, i would love to do it again. Thank you, Alison
Hi,
Great to hear from you! I've often thought that I might like to come back to Belize. I had such a great time there. I'm in my third of four years of a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency program in Loma Linda, California. And I'm still very interested in short to long-term overseas medical work. I'm happy to stay in contact. I'm thinking of doing some more work-travel in 2009 when I finish residency. April
Thanks for getting in touch. I worked at Hillside in 2004-05 as part of my final year elective. I have now been qualified two years and am working in the Emergency Department at Kings College Hospital. My time in Belize had a great impact on my choice of career path, as I have just commenced a Primary Care training programme. Please pass on my regards to all in Eldridge who remember me, and do keep me informed of your future endeavours. Best wishes -Ranya
