MISSION STATEMENTMission
Hillside Health Care International (HHCI) is a faith based, non-profit organization dedicated to serving God by providing health care and disease prevention to the people of Southern Belize. HHCI is devoted to improving the Belizean quality of life through medical care, health education, and community outreach. HHCI promotes healthy global attitudes by offering a culturally-rich educational program for medical volunteers that challenges them to better understand their role in international health care.

VISION STATEMENT
To ensure HHCI dynamically fulfills its mission by striving to build bridges—to the medically underserved, to the people living in our service areas, to our volunteers (medical and non-medical) who serve others through our program, to our partners, to our staff, and to long term financial sustainability.

Through its main clinic in the little township of Eldridgevile and mobile outreach clinics to more than a dozen indigenous villages, HHCI volunteers provide over 8000 free patient visits each year. Without HHCI’s efforts, the rural and remote populace of the Toledo district would have little or no access to medical care.

HHCI equally values its second mission of promoting healthy global attitudes through the provision of a culturally-rich educational program for medical volunteers. HHCI trains medical, nursing, and physician assistant students and medical residents in international health that enables them to better understand their role in international health care. Hillside volunteers are often deeply impacted by their experiences in Belize that makes them well rounded, more spiritual individuals and better citizens.

Though close collaboration with the Belize Ministry of Health and local Non-Governmental Organizations, HHCI continues to expand its outreach to include free dental and physical therapy services and the facilitation of public health research. The Hillside Clinic has become the conduit for the provision of accessible primary medical care, adjunct health care services, community health education, disease prevention and public health research in service of the poorest citizens in Belize. This is accomplished through a program sustained by volunteers. Based in Milwaukee, WI, HHCI is an IRS approved 501(C)3 organization. Please see the following link for information on our collaborating partners and hopes for the future.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR HILLSIDE HEALTHCARE CENTER
We, at Hillside Healthcare Center, believe we have been sent on this Mission to act within a Circle of Care Model. For us that means that we function within a model of servant leadership modeling the highest level of compassionate, caring service possible practiced without bias or discrimination. We believe if we give of ourselves in this manner, we get back far more than we give. It is then our mandate to perpetuate the circle of care giving yet again.
This philosophy has made the center what it is and we protect that paradigm at all costs.

JUSTICE: We approach all issues with an open mind with a goal to address root causes in all resolutions that meet the common good.

STEWARDSHIP: We share a commitment to be stewards to protect, sustain and develop all resources placed in our care.

SERVICE AND EXCELLENCE: We consistently strive for excellence in all services we provide modeled upon the four core values of the center: Justice, Stewardship, Excellent Service, and Dignity.

DIGNITY: We believe each individual deserves to be treated with the utmost dignity in all our interactions with them maintaining the highest level of respect possible demonstrating the intrinsic worth of each person.
